Is it Spring yet?

For the first day in many, today actually looks like Spring here in Provo, Utah. We have a blue sky, moderate temps, and I have seen a few daffodils peaking up their heads. With the weather change comes a desire to knit something new, something light, something in a bright color and fun pattern.

Have you seen Kim Hargreaves Spring and Summer collections? I love Carrie:

This is knit with Rowan 4-ply soft, a yarn I have in my stash. I sure wish Kim's patterns were available for purchase without the yarn. With the exchange rate of the dollar to pound, it is getting pretty pricey to purchase from across the pond.

I am still planning to knit the cute farm sweater for the expected little man, but have yet to make it to SLC to purchase the yarn. You would think I lived further than a mere 45 miles away as I sure don't get to the "City" much anymore. I could buy online, but for some reason I want to actually pick out the yarn myself, as in touch it, smell it, choose just the perfect shades, etc. (Does anyone else smell their yarn prior to purchasing? I always do, but have been questioned a couple of times about it. I do it because I love the smell of yarn! There is just something about it being a total sensory experience that buying online will never be able to accomplish).

Old MacDonald had a Farm

I have been surfing knit sites every evening in my quest for the perfect sweater for my expected grandson. My favorite so far is this cute little sweater from Dale of Norway. Don't you just love the cows and pigs, not to mention the chicks!

I have purchased the pattern book, but still need to find the yarn. My LYS carries Dale of Norway patterns but none of their yarns. Weird! I am excited to begin this!
