Today is My Birthday!
Yes, as you can see from the left side-bar, my birthday is today! What am I doing to celebrate? Why, go to work, of course.
Seriously, ever since I can remember, my family has celebrated my birthday on the 4th of July. It is really a lot of fun because my extended family is there to help celebrate as well. We always barbecue, make home-made ice cream (fresh raspberry and cookies and cream this year), open my presents, and then go to Stadium of Fire. Stadium of Fire is a huge event held at BYU's LaVell Edwards Stadium, which holds 65,000 people (it is always sold out). It is produced by the Osmonds. This year's headliner was Reba McIntire, host was Sean Hannity (not my favorite, but he does a good job), lots of patriotic tributes, and an enourmous fireworks display (thus, "Stadium of Fire"). It was a wonderful show!
Since Monday was the official federal holiday, I did get the day off work, and my immediate family took me out to dinner. So today, my real birthday, is just another day in the neighborhood. I do expect my Dad will call and sing to me (another tradition).
So, to make this entry somewhat knit related, guess what one of my birthday presents was -- an Ott Light!!! I have wanted one of these for so long as my house is pretty dark. I was really surprised, though. I couldn't imagine what was in that long skinny box (a patio umbrella? I do not have a patio).
Everyone have a happy day, on me!!!
